Carbon neutrality for metal processing

Corresponding activities of Balford Stampings related to customers’ carbon-neutral goals not only reduce the company’s own emissions, but also help customers reduce the emissions embodied in their metal components.

Carbon-neutral metal processing

Energy use, material yield, production efficiency and transport all influence the carbon footprint of a stamped part. Balford reviews each stage of production and improves the process wherever a measurable reduction can be achieved.

Material utilization and recycling

Tooling layouts are optimized to improve strip utilization and reduce offcuts. Scrap steel, stainless steel, copper and aluminium are separated by material type and returned to qualified recycling channels.

Efficient production

Progressive tooling, stable process parameters and preventive maintenance reduce rework and unnecessary machine time. The factory also continues to replace inefficient equipment and improve the use of electricity and compressed air.

Support for customer targets

For new projects, Balford can review material, process route, surface treatment and packaging together with the customer. The objective is to meet drawing and quality requirements while lowering waste, energy consumption and logistics volume.
