A large square to enjoy the beautiful city view of Guangzhou
Guangzhou Flower City Square (花城广场), located in the Tianhe District, is a major urban landmark in the city. At its center is the iconic Flower Fountain, which represents Guangzhou’s nickname, "Flower City" (花城). One of the most notable landmarks near the square is the Guangzhou Opera House, designed by renowned architect Zaha Hadid. Music Fountain
The fountain performs at 20:00 every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday; an additional show is held at 15:00 on weekends (closed for maintenance on Mondays and Thursdays). At night, the square’s ground light paths and 3D screens interact with Canton Tower’s lights, creating a stunning visual experience.
Visit Flower Islands
The 5 flower islands in the north of the square have different themes. Cherry blossoms bloom from March to April, peach blossoms from February to March, bauhinia from September to October, sunflowers from November to December, and lotus flowers in the pond from June to August.

Take the APM Line for Sightseeing
The APM (Automated People Mover) Line runs from Grand Theatre Station to Haixinsha Station. The glass carriages allow 360° views of Huacheng Square, Canton Tower, and Liede Bridge together, with the whole journey taking less than 5 minutes.
Take Photos with Canton Tower
The south end of the square is the best spot to photograph Canton Tower. During the day, you can capture the geometric contrast between the tower and the lawn; at night, the lit-up tower and square create a perfect photo backdrop.
By Metro
The most convenient way is to take Line 9 of the Guangzhou Metro. Huadu Square is located near Huadu Station on Line 9.
If you're coming from Guangzhou city center (Tianhe, for example), take Line 3 or Line 1 to Guangzhou East Railway Station, and then transfer to Line 9 towards Yantang Station. After a few stops, get off at Huadu Station, and Huadu Square will be within walking distance from the metro station.
By Bus
You can also take a bus that passes through Huadu. Many buses run through the Huadu District, but it might be more complex for visitors unfamiliar with the area.
You can check with your hotel or local service for the best bus routes to take.
By Taxi or Ride-Hailing
A more direct option is to take a taxi or use a ride-hailing app (like Didi). Just tell the driver "Huadu Square" (花都广场) and they will take you there directly.
