Siberia Tiger Park is the largest natural park for wild Siberian tigers in the world at present. The park was firstly opened on January 23, 1996, in order to preserve this rare and valuable animal- Siberia Tiger.
Covering an area of 1,440,000 square meters, the Siberia Tiger Park is situated on the Northern bank of Songhua River and near to the Sun Island Park. The Park is the home to over 500 Siberian tigers but only 100 can be observed by visitors. It consists of five sections: Adult Tiger Garden, Adult Tiger Breeding Garden, Tiger Cub Garden, Lion Garden and the Walking Area. Visitors can see the different ages of tigers.
As the world's largest Siberian tiger breeding base, besides the Siberian tigers, the park raises white tigers, lions, ligers, jaguars, wolves and other wild beasts. People can visit pedestrian area and car dealers area in the park, to witness all aspects of the Siberian tigers’ lives.
After enter the park, you may take special vehicles fitted with iron bars (for protection purpose) to be driven to car dealers area. Along the way you will see flocks or single Siberian tiger, white tigers, lions and other wild beasts. Visitors can watch tigers from quite near and appreciate the adventurous and exciting events from the special tourist car which is surrounded by strong steel mesh. The Siberia Tiger Park wardens have prepared a series of live animals to train their wild charges; as a result, tourists can buy the animals to feed tigers according to their own preferences and economic conditions. There are lots of choices, such as chickens, ducks even cows. Chicken is the cheapest one. This activity has been very popular with both domestic and foreign tourists.
After about 20 minutes’ driving, you will reach the pedestrian zone, where is mainly to see Siberian tiger, lions, leopards, etc. in case. You can even get a chance to see little tigers.
At the entrance of the Siberian Tiger Park, there is a free Siberian tiger science museum, where you can watch a detailed display of a variety of specimens, pictures and text information on the tigers. You can learn more about this valuable specie.
Wild Training AreaIt is a large open space for Siberian tigers’ wildness training. Visitors can witness the tigers’ natural behaviors like wandering, resting and interacting with peers, feeling their primitive wild charm up close.
Adult Tiger Area snd Juvenile Tiger Area--The Adult Tiger Area houses fully-grown Siberian tigers, showcasing their majestic posture and powerful aura. The Juvenile Tiger Area is home to 3-6 month old tiger cubs, where you can observe their cute daily activities such as playing, chasing and napping.
Lion-Tiger Hybrid Area--Lions and tigers are raised together here since they were young. It is a rare chance to see ligers (offspring of a male lion and a female tiger) and tigons (offspring of a male tiger and a female lion), appreciating the unique appearance of these hybrid big cats.
Small Cat Area--This area gathers various rare small feline species, including servals, caracals and leopard cats. Each has distinct features—servals with long legs and large ears, caracals with tufted ears—offering a different viewing experience from big cats.
Black Bear Interaction Area--Besides tigers, the park also has black bears. You can watch them foraging and playing in a safe distance, adding more fun to the visit with their clumsy yet lovely behaviors.
Amur Tiger Culture Museum--It displays specimens, pictures, texts and videos about Siberian tigers. The exhibition covers the species’ living habits, distribution, endangered status and conservation efforts, helping visitors deepen their understanding of this national-level protected animal.
Tiger Viewing Platform--Located in the pedestrian area, the platform provides a high vantage point. It is an ideal spot to watch tigers eating and moving around in groups, especially during the scheduled feeding times.
Cub Paradise--A dedicated zone for young tigers, equipped with gentle facilities. It allows visitors to take photos with the cubs under staff supervision (following park regulations) and capture the most adorable moments of these little predators.
Direct Public Transportation
Several bus lines provide direct access to the vicinity of the park without requiring transfers, making it ideal for visitors who are not in a rush. You can take bus routes 35, 122, or 123 and get off at the Tiger Forest Park stop, from where the park entrance is just a short walk away. For those wishing to enjoy city views along the way, tourist bus routes 2 and 3 also stop at the Tiger Forest Park stop. Alternatively, you can take bus route 29 to the Xuezi Street stop and walk 100 meters to reach the park.
Subway + Bus Transfer
This is a convenient combination for cross-regional travel. First, take Subway Line 2 to Shimao Avenue Station, exit from Exit 3, then transfer to bus route 35 or 122 at the nearby Beian Mingzhu Community bus stop. Take the bus for a few stops to Hulin Park Station, then walk 200-240 meters to reach the park. The entire transfer is smooth and you are unlikely to get lost.
Self-driving
Suitable for self-driving trips or groups of tourists, with flexible route planning and convenient parking. Simply navigate to "Harbin Tiger Forest Park Parking Lot". From downtown Harbin, there are two common routes: 1) via Hayao Road → Highway Bridge → Songbei Avenue → Zhongyuan Avenue, then turn right into the park; 2) via Songpu Bridge → Songbei Avenue → Zhongyuan Avenue, then turn left into the park. Ample parking is available around the park, with parking fees approximately 15 yuan per day.
Taking a taxi/ride (hailing service is suitable for tourists seeking efficiency and convenience.)
The journey from Central Street takes approximately 30 minutes and costs around 24 yuan. It is especially important to clearly tell the driver that you are going to "Songbei Northeast Tiger Park in Harbin City" and ask them to navigate to the northwest gate to avoid mistakenly going to the Hengdaohezi Tiger Park, which is far from the city center.
After arriving in Harbin by long-(distance/high-speed rail, you can transfer to public transportation or take a taxi.)
If you are coming from out of town, after arriving at transportation hubs such as Harbin Railway Station or Harbin West Railway Station, you can take public transportation or a taxi. For example, from Harbin Railway Station, you can take Metro Line 2 to Shimao Avenue Station and then transfer to bus route 35; alternatively, you can take a taxi directly, which takes about 25-30 minutes. From Harbin West Railway Station, a taxi to the industrial park takes about 40 minutes, or you can take Metro Line 3, transfer to Line 2, and then take a bus, which is more cost-effective.
