China Snow Town

China Snow Town, official name Bimodal Forest Farm, is the top winter destination in China. Located in Changting town, Hailin city, Heilongjiang province, it is more than 100 kilometers away from the town government and known as the "China Snow Town". As the No. 1 snow town in China, Bimodal Forest Farm is located northeast direction of Harbin, about 5 hrs driving from Harbin to there. China Snow Town has become a must-see place for appreciating the snowfall in China.

【Chinese Name】: 大海林局双峰林场

China Snow Town scenic spot is located at intersection of Zhangguangcai mountain and Laoye mountain (both are belonged to Mt. Changbaishan Range), covering an area of 17,916 hectares with an altitude of 1,100 meters. The cold air from Lake Baikal and oceanic warming wet airflow from Japanese waters meet each other frequently here, and the climate of forest also functions, thus from Oct to Apr next year, this area is covered by snow. The period of snow falling lasts for 7 months one year, and the thickness of snow was up to 2 meters. Because of its unique climate, the Snow Town is a fairy land which could not be copied in other place in the world.

The unique scenery here makes snow town becomes a beloved in media industry, attracting countless visitors, domestic and foreign photographers and TV crews to create works. The pictures and videos by press, photographers, or TV series had been spread to the world widely. Things to Do in China Snow Town

What is snow cake and snow mushroom? "Snow mushroom" has always been one of the characteristic signboards of Snow Town. They are the nicknames of the houses covered by thick snow. The snow covers the roofs of houses makes them different from one by one. Some are looked like snow curtains, some are snow cakes, and some are snow mushrooms. Taking photos with snow cake and mushrooms is a must do thing.
 

► Stroll around Xueyun Street

Xueyun Street is the only main street in China Snow Town, with a total length of about 500 meters. There are distinctive shops on both sides of the street. Two red lanterns are hung on the door of each store. In Xueyun Street, in addition to the purchase of mountain goods, it is more important to taste frozen pears, frozen persimmons, ice cream, candied fruit and other foods stored under natural refrigerators.
 

► Visit Snow Town Film and Television Base

Snow Town Film and Television Base is a famous attraction in China Snow Town, located near the Xueyun Street. The TV series “Brave Journey to Northeast China” and “The North Wind Blows” are shot in this base. Here, there are all kinds of beautiful "snow mushrooms" as the background, as well as the simulated bandits’ lair and the racetrack. Visitors who love photography must come, because the buildings with solid wooden structure are covered with thick white snow. It looks fantastic.


 

► Join A Snow Trekking Tour

Snowfield traversing is one of the special items that must be experienced when coming to China Snow Town. Two places are to be mentioned here: Snow Valley and Snow Town, which belong to two forest farms, separated by a Leymus Mountain. Snow Valley is a small village with a very simple atmosphere. It's a particularly exciting and beautiful route, with the entire 15 km mountain road from Snow Valley passes through Snow Town.

A: The best time will be Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar. Spring Festival is a good time to visit snow town. But it is also the hot season there with more travelers than the rest time of the year.

 

Q2: How about the weather there?
A: The average temperature in Jan is -18.3℃ (-0.94℉) and Feb is -10.4℃ (13.28℉). Be noted to take enough warming clothes.
