The Youxi Terraces, officially known as the Youxi Lianhe Terraces, are located in Lianhe Town, Youxi County, Sanming City, Fujian Province. They are one of the largest and best-preserved terraced fields in Fujian and a significant agricultural cultural heritage site in China.
 

Built along the mountainside, the terraces stretch for hundreds of meters above sea level, cascading down the slopes in a magnificent, layered fashion. The maximum drop is nearly 700 meters, covering an area of ​​tens of thousands of acres, and are distributed across several natural villages in Lianhe Town, such as Yunshan Village and Dongbian Village.
 

History

Youxi is also one of thousand age counties in Fujian province. Getting to Youxi County

Most visitors first travel to Youxi County, which is well connected by rail.
The most convenient option is to take a high-speed train to Youxi Railway Station, which has direct connections with major cities such as Fuzhou and Xiamen. The train journey takes about 1 hour from Fuzhou and 1.5–2 hours from Xiamen.

For travelers coming from farther away, flying to Fuzhou Changle International Airport or Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport is recommended, followed by a transfer to Youxi by high-speed rail or long-distance bus.
 

From Youxi County to Youxi Terrace

From Youxi County town, Youxi Terrace is approximately 30–40 kilometers away. The journey usually takes 40–60 minutes.

Travelers can drive or take a taxi from the county center, following Provincial Road S306 toward Lianhe Town. Along the way, road signs pointing to Lianhe Town, Yunshan Village, or Youxi Terrace are clearly marked. After turning onto the mountain road, the route becomes winding, but the road surface is generally in good condition and suitable for standard vehicles.

Travel Tips

The terrace area is mountainous, and mobile signal may be unstable in some locations, so downloading offline maps in advance is advised. Night driving should be done cautiously due to winding roads and limited lighting. During weekends and holidays, visiting early in the morning or late in the afternoon helps avoid traffic congestion.
