Fuzhou West Lake Park

There are a few West Lakes in China; among which, Fuzhou West Lake is believed to be one of the most well-liked besides Hanzhou West Lake. It is sited in downtown area of Fuzhou city, Fujian Province, China. The West Lake Park is the most well-preserved and intact classical garden in Fuzhou, with a long history of up to 1700 years. It covers an area of 42.51 hectares; among which, 30.3 hectares are water area, which is also regarded to be "a bright pearl of Fuzhou gardens". As it is free to the public, many local people, especially the old, go for a walk or do exercise in the park in the morning or evening.

West Lake is quiet and gorgeous with its beautiful natural sceneries; hence, it attracts lots of men of letters and painters in ancient times to leave their plentiful praising sentences as well as paintings.

West Lake stands as the central attraction of Fuzhou's West Lake Park. In summer, lotus flowers bloom across the lake, filling the air with their delicate fragrance—the most iconic sight of West Lake throughout the year. Spring and autumn showcase harmonious interplay between lake and mountain scenery, perfect for leisurely strolls and photography. At dawn or dusk, the lake mirrors the sky and garden architecture, creating an especially tranquil atmosphere.

🏯 Kaihua Temple

Founded during the Tang Dynasty, Kaihua Temple ranks among Fuzhou's oldest Buddhist monasteries, boasting profound religious and cultural heritage. Its architecture is simple yet solemn, and incense offerings continue to this day.

Take Fuzhou Metro Line 1

🔹 Get off at Dongjiekou Station → Walk about 10 minutes from the exit to reach the park entrance.

Numerous bus routes within Fuzhou pass near West Lake Park (stops typically named “West Lake” or “西湖”):

Routes 1, 65, 70, 74, 88, 100, 109, 111 → Alight at “West Lake” stop → Walk approximately 2–5 minutes to arrive.

Alternatively, disembark at other stops like “Hutou Street” or “West Gate” and walk to the park.

👉 Most buses depart from Fuzhou Railway Station or downtown areas, with fares typically very affordable (around ¥1).
 

🚕 Taxi / Ride-Hailing (Didi, etc.)

Within Fuzhou city, simply tell the driver:
