Hailing Island is located in Yangjiang, Guangdong province, enjoy the laudatory name of “the south Beidaihe” and “the Oriental Hawaii”, has been hailed as a piece of uncarved jade. Hailing Island from 2005 to 2007 in three consecutive years was named one of “China top ten most beautiful island” by Chinese National Geography magazine. Other notable spots include Wanghaiting Pavilion, Xiaogangwan, Beiluo Huan (Iron Hat), Niutangshan Cultural Viewing Area, and Dongdao Jinsha Beach. Heading west along the coast, you can depart from Zha Po Central Fishing Port to Mawei Island. The fishing port is lively, with many boats offering sea tours for tourists. On the boat, visitors can admire the giant wind turbines on Hailing Island, glimpse traditional fishing rafts at Mawei Island, and exchange friendly waves with other tourists, soaking in the serene beauty of the open sea.

Scenic Views and Cultural Stops

Traveling east from Dajiao Bay leads to Ten-Mile Silver Beach and the Guangdong Maritime Silk Road Museum. On the way, there’s Dajiao Zui, a scenic hill road that provides panoramic views of the South China Sea and Ten-Mile Silver Beach. This is also an excellent spot for watching the sunrise. However, because it’s popular for photos, parking can be limited for self-driving visitors.

Ten-Mile Silver Beach is calmer than Dajiao Bay, making it less suitable for swimming but perfect for beach buggies and inflatable boat rides. The length of this beach has even earned a place in the Guinness World Records. Visitors can explore the entire stretch in a sand buggy, taking in the full grandeur of this coastal gem.

At the Guangdong Maritime Silk Road Museum, history comes alive with exhibits like the Nanhai No. 1 shipwreck, along with ceramics, jewelry, and other artifacts recovered from the South China Sea. For those interested in maritime history and ancient trade, this museum is a fascinating stop.

Evening Activities and Nightlife

Hailing Island offers charming options for nighttime exploration. Luozhou Seaside Park is a favorite gathering place for tourists, offering open spaces for strolling along the beach, watching the waves, or even setting off small fireworks. A nearby food street provides snacks and local treats, making it ideal for a casual evening meal.

For shopping and souvenirs, “Yiyecheng” Night Market is the go-to destination. Visitors can buy local seafood, snacks, and gifts to take home for friends and family. A recommended route is to start from the Fangsheng Platform, another excellent daytime sea-view spot, walk along the beach to the seaside park, and finish the night at Yiyecheng to shop and experience local culture.
