The PLA Naval Museum is the only military museum to exhibit collections in the development of Chinese naval filed. Built in 1989, this naval museum lies to the west of the famous Lu Xun Park and faces Zhanqiao Bridge across the sea, located in the No.8 Laiyang Road.
 
The PLA Naval Museum is the only military museum that record the whole Chinese navy development history in China. Exhibition area of ​​40,000 square meters, located indoor exhibition hall, exhibition of weapons and equipment exhibition and maritime ship area. It comprised of three parts namely the military uniform presentation exhibition hall, the weaponry area and the marine ships exhibition area with approximately 800 articles altogether. The military uniform presentation exhibition hall mainly displays the various types of uniforms from different period since the establishment of the navy in 1949, military rank epaulet, service code, and special professional equipment as well as presents from more than 60 countries to China.

Highlights of the PLA Naval Museum

Maritime Ship Exhibition Area

The maritime ship exhibition area mainly displays ships and submarines such as Yangtze River Warship, Anshan Warship, Yingtan Warship, Great Wall 200 and Changzheng No.1 Warship. Chairmen Mao Zedong inspected the People’s Navy for the first time on the Yangtze River Warship. Jinan Warship is the first missile destroyer developed by China. Yingtan Warship is the first missle frigate which defends against air attacks in China. The Great Wall No.200 boat was awarded the honorary title of "Pioneer Boat for Underwater Launching Test". The Changzheng No.1 is the first nuclear submarine independently designed and constructed by China.
 

Yangtze River Warship

Yangtze River Warship is the treasure of the PLA Naval Museum. It is constructed in 1929, which was named Yangtze River Warship in 1950. In 1953, Chairman Mao Zedong inspected China’s Navy on the Yangtze River Warship. Yangtze River Warship is the symbol of the starting of China building a powerful navy. In 2021, Yangtze River Warship anchored in the PLA Naval Museum, becoming one of the most famous warships in it.
 

Anshan Warship

Anshan Warship is missile destroyer, which was introduced from the Soviet Union. It was on active service for the Soviet Union during the World War II. The ship has carried out major combat readiness and training tasks for many times and made great contributions to defending the motherland's seas and borders. In 1992, Anshan Warship retired and anchored in the PLA Naval Museum.
 

Yingtan Warship

Yingtan Warship is missile frigate. It was designed and created independently by China. Yingtan Warship made outstanding contributions to defending the sovereignty of the motherland's territorial waters. In 1994, Anshan Warship retired and anchored in the PLA Naval Museum.


 

Changzheng No.1

Changzheng No.1 Warship is the nuclear-powered submarine which was constructed independently by China. It represents that China is the fifth country who has nuclear-powered submarine in the world. Changzheng No.1 had set many records, including The longest sailing time, the longest voyage, the longest one-time diving time and the highest average underwater speed. In 2003, Anshan Warship retired. And in 2016, it anchored in the PLA Naval Museum.
 

The Great Wall No.200

The Great Wall No.200 is missile test warship. In 1982, it successfully completed the underwater launch vehicle test for the first time, and China has become the fifth country in the world with the ability of underwater secondary nuclear strike. The Great Wall No.200 has the longest service time and the most submarine-launched missiles. In 2020, it anchored at the PLA Naval Museum.
 

Travel Tips of the PLA Naval Museum

You can enter the PLA Naval Museum from Gate 1(Laiyang Road), Gate 3(Qinyu Road) and Gate 4(Laixi Road).

You need to make reservation to visit the PLA Naval Museum. If you want to visit the nuclear-powered submarine, you need SEPARATE RESERVATION.

Please take recognized identity document(passport) while visiting the PLA Naval Museum.

Museum of Chinese naval build a museum purpose: promote the Chinese long history and culture, showing the development of China's naval history, the people of the Navy's combat history of advocacy and achievements to raise the nation's patriotic consciousness and the concept of maritime territory.

By subway: You can take the Qingdao Metro and get off at the People’s Hall Station, then walk to the PLA Naval Museum.

By bus: Take Bus 26, 202, 223, 316, 304, 312, 321, 501 or 504 and then get off at Lu Xun Park Station.
