Going to the east from Bayi Town and passing through the mountain pass of Serjila, Lulang forest(Chinese name: 鲁朗林海) stands in front of you. The landscape is particularly beautiful with snow mountains, glaciers, primitive forest, villages and rivers. The species of tree and vegetation are rich here with a large number of birds resting and living within the forest.
With an altitude of 3700 meters, Lulang Forest is located in mountains and forests. It is a typical mountain meadow narrow strip land with a length of 15 kilometers and an average width of one kilometer, mainly composed of bushes and thick spruces and pine trees with a meadow in middle.
In summer, golden wheat waves are formed with wind; in autumn and winter, the leaves of trees in the mountain foot become green, then yellow and red. Watching from far, you can see the white cloud in the blue sky sometimes in the shape of running horses, sometimes in the shape of yaks in the high plateau; it may runs very quickly or quite slowly, like a graceful girl or a passionate boy. The naked peaks were covered with snow and dotted with green meadows and Tibetan houses.

Namcha Barwa Peak is one of the most beautiful mountains in China. Namcha Barwa means long spear stabbing into the sky in Tibetan. Namcha Barwa is located in the eastern Himalayas, which is composed of nine peaks. The main peak, Namcha Barwa Peak, is 7,782 meters above sea level.
Sejila Mountain Pass, with an altitude of 4,560 meters, is one of the best places to view the Namcha Barwa Peak. Namcha Barwa Peak is covered by snow all the year round, which is cloud-capped. April to October is the rainy season of Lulang, it is difficult to see the Namcha Barwa Peak clearly because it is usually covered in the mist during this time. While late October to March is the best time to view the Namcha Barwa Peak, when you can see the Namcha Barwa Peak clearly. During this time, you will have chance to see the Namcha Barwa Peak clearly, and if you are lucky, you can see the stunning sunrise or sunset of the Namcha Barwa.
In winter, you may have chance to experience the Tibetan Gongbu new year at Lulang. At this time, Gongbu Tibetans will dress up on festival clothes, sing and dance to celebrate the new year. During this time, visiting Lulang, you will know about the customs and culture of Gongbu Tibetans at Lulang. And you can also visit the Tibetan family and taste the buttered tea and experience the festival atmosphere here.
Whistling archery is a special activity in Lulang. When you shoot an arrow, there is a sound. There are four little holes on the arrow. When the arrow flies, the wind blows through the holes and makes sounds. It is interesting to try the whistling archery at Lulang.
The best time to visit Lulang will depend on scenery you prefer because Lulang is beautiful and charming in different seasons. In spring and summer, colorful flowers bloom all over the mountains, making people linger here. In autumn and winter, the sea of forest turn its color, making Lulang forest a fairyland. If you want to see the Namcha Barwa Peak, it is more recommended that you visit Lulang in winter, from late October to March.
