It is about 5 km away from the downtown and 30 km away from Wulingyuan Scenic Area. But the flights leaving for Zhangjiajie is quite limited. It is the fastest way to get to Zhangjiaje.
How do I get to Zhangjiajie by air? There are regular flights to Zhangjiajie from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Xi'an, Chengdu, Shenyang, Qingdao, Nanjing, Tianjin, Chongqing, Changzhou, Changsha, etc. If you travel to Zhangjiajie from other cities in China, you need to transfer your flight via the above places. By Train: There are limited direct train services from Beijing to Zhangjiajie. At present, there is only one direct high-speed train per day, and the journey takes approximately 11 hours. In addition, there are only two regular trains, with travel times ranging from 18 to 23 hours. Because of the limited schedules, some travelers choose to take a high-speed train to Changsha first and then transfer to Zhangjiajie.
By Air (Recommended): Direct flights are available from Shanghai to Zhangjiajie, taking about 2.5 hours. This is the most efficient way.
By Train: High-speed trains departing from Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station take approximately 7–9 hours, and regular trains are also available, with a travel time of around 19.5 hours.
By Air: Most flights from Chongqing to Zhangjiajie require a transfer, which often makes air travel more time-consuming than expected. For this reason, flying is generally not recommended for this route.
By Train (Recommended): There are frequent direct high-speed trains from Chongqing to Zhangjiajie. The journey takes only about 2–3 hours, making this the fastest and most convenient option. High-speed rail is highly recommended for travelers coming from Chongqing.
By Air: Most flights from Guangzhou to Zhangjiajie require a transfer. Although direct flights are available, with a flight time of about 2 hours, they are not operated daily, so flight schedules can be limited. Because of this, flying is not always the most reliable option for this route.
By Train (Recommended): There are train services from multiple railway stations in Guangzhou to Zhangjiajie. The high-speed train takes approximately 6 hours, making it a convenient choice for most travelers. There is also a regular overnight train departing from Guangzhou Baiyun Railway Station at around 8:57 pm, which takes about 13 hours. This overnight option allows travelers—especially those arriving via Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport—to travel overnight and arrive in Zhangjiajie the next morning, making it a practical and cost-effective choice.
By Air: There are seasonal direct flights from Xi’an to Zhangjiajie, with a flight time of about 1.5–2 hours. However, during the low travel season, direct flights may be limited or unavailable, so flight schedules should be checked in advance.
By Train: There is one direct high-speed train daily from Xi’an to Zhangjiajie, and the journey takes approximately 9.5 hours. There are also some connecting train options, usually transferring in Changsha, Chongqing, or Chengdu, with a total travel time of around 8.5–10 hours. Because of more frequent schedules and flexible connections, traveling by train is often the more reliable option for this route.
By Air: Direct flights from Chengdu to Zhangjiajie take about 1 hour, but they are not operated daily, so availability can be limited. Travelers are advised to check flight schedules in advance.
By Train (Recommended): There are currently about five daily high-speed trains from Chengdu to Zhangjiajie. The journey takes approximately 4–5.5 hours, making high-speed rail a fast, reliable, and convenient option for this route.
By Train (Recommended): There are direct high-speed trains from Guilin to Zhangjiajie, with a travel time of just over 7 hours. Currently, there are two direct services per day. Alternatively, many travelers choose to transfer in Changsha, where train connections are more frequent. With a transfer, the total travel time is usually around 6–7 hours, making it a more flexible option.
By Air: Most flights from Guilin to Zhangjiajie require at least one transfer, which generally makes air travel less efficient for this route.
How do I get to Zhangjiajie by bus? A bus is available from Changsha, which is the nearest convenient city to travel to Zhangjiajie. It takes 4-5 hours from Zhangjiajie to Changsha. If from other cities, it is not recommended to travel by bus. If you do not want to take normal coach with other people, you can rent a coach with driver through a local travel agent.
