External Transportation: Getting to Luoyang

►1. By Air: Luoyang Beijiao Airport (LYA)

Luoyang Beijiao Airport is located approximately 10 kilometers northwest of the city center. You can take a taxi come and go from the airport to downtown Luoyang which may cost you about 20 yuan; also you can take No. 83 bus to reach downtown.

Key Flight Network: The airport operates regular scheduled flights to several domestic hubs. Key destinations include Beijing (Capital & Daxing), Shanghai (Pudong & Hongqiao), Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu (Tianfu & Shuangliu), Chongqing, Hangzhou, Xiamen, Kunming, Dalian, and Harbin. Seasonal or charter flights may also be available to other tourist cities.

Airport Transfer:

Taxi: The most direct option. A taxi from the airport to downtown (e.g., the area near Luoyang Railway Station or the city center) costs approximately ¥25-35 and takes around 20-30 minutes depending on traffic.
Public Bus: Take Bus No. 83 or the dedicated Airport Shuttle Bus Line to reach key points in the city center, such as the Luoyang Railway Station square. The bus fare is very economical, typically ¥2-5.
Ride-Hailing: Services like Didi Chuxing are readily available at the airport, offering another convenient option with upfront pricing.

►2. By Railway: High-Speed and Conventional Services
Luoyang has three main railway stations including Luoyang Railway Station (90% of the train stops here), Luoyang East Railway Station and Kuan Lin Train Station. Luoyang has direct buses to reach these three railway stations. Also, Luoyang has originating long-distance trains to Jinan and Guangzhou.

Luoyang Railway Station (洛阳站):

Function: This is the city's main and oldest station, handling the vast majority of conventional trains (K, T, Z series). Over 90% of trains stop here.

Function: A smaller, older station handling some regional conventional train services.

Luoyang Master Passenger Station mainly sends regular buses to every province and cities. It has special tourism bus line to White Cloud Mountain. Near the Luoyang Railway Station, there are luxury buses with toilet to Zhengzhou Railway Station. Toward the east of Luoyang Railway Station, there are buses to Xi'an.

Luoyang Master Passenger Station (洛阳汽车站): This is the main long-distance bus terminal, located adjacent to the Luoyang Railway Station. It offers regular coach services to:
Provincial & Inter-provincial Routes: Destinations include Zhengzhou (frequent luxury buses, ~1.5-2 hours, ¥30-35), Xi'an (~3-3.5 hours, ¥70-80), Kaifeng, Zhengzhou Airport, and many counties within Henan.
Tourist Shuttle Services: The station operates direct buses to popular nearby scenic areas such as White Horse Temple (白马寺) and, during peak seasons, to attractions like White Cloud Mountain (白云山) and Longtan Valley (龙潭大峡谷).

Night Surcharge: An additional fee applies, usually starting around 11:00 PM.

3. Metro (New Addition): Luoyang's modern metro system (Luoyang Metro) began operation in 2021, adding a fast and efficient urban transit option.

For Budget Travelers or Specific Routes: Conventional trains to Luoyang Railway Station or long-distance buses offer economical alternatives.
Getting to the Longmen Grottoes: From downtown, take Tourist Bus Line 1, Bus 53, 60, 71, or 81 directly to the scenic area entrance. From Luoyang Longmen HSR Station, it's a very short taxi ride.
