Shangyi Flower Market is the largest and most complete professional flower wholesale market within Kunming city. It first formed in the mid-1980s and was relocated in 2008 to its current location in the northern part of the city.

Compared with Dounan Flower Market, Shangyi Flower Market is more conveniently located for visitors staying in downtown Kunming. Flower prices here are similar to Dounan’s retail prices. In addition to fresh flowers, the market also sells dried flowers, flower baskets, potted plants, and floral accessories.

The basement level sells fish, stones, jade, and related items. The first floor focuses on aquariums and pets, while the second floor is mainly for flowers. Unlike other markets, Yuanbo is more focused on potted plants rather than single flower bouquets.

Popular items include camellias, kumquat trees, succulents, and mimosa plants. Bargaining is common, and visitors are encouraged to talk with vendors for better prices. The market is both visually interesting and culturally distinctive.
