Taihang Mountain Grand Canyon

Taihang Mountain Grand Canyon National Forest Park is located in the east of Huguan county area between the two provinces of Shanxi and Henan, north from Hugaun 30 kilometers from the county. And Taihang Mountain Grand Canyon has been rated as one of “China’s best ten grand canyons”.

In the scenic spot, thousands of peaks contend for beauty, strange, unique topography and geomorphology, rare animals and plants resources made of Taihang Grand Canyon of the most wonderful natural scenery. With three gorges of Five Fingers Gorge, Longquan Gorge, Wangmang Gorge as the main line, there has opened up Purple Cloud Cave, and Yungai Temple, water demon Hole and Zhenze Palace four major scenic spots.

There are diverse landscape, with total of gorge landscape, waterscape, mountain, stone, tree view, 44 places of historic interest, and more than 400 attractions. Taihang Grand Canyon is not only charming natural scenery, human landscape is also interesting. The culture is very deep here, Confucius story, two fairy story have a long history.

 

What to See at Taihang Mountain Grand Canyon

Baquan Gorge

At the Baquan Gorge, you can see the high canyons and calm lakes. You can take the boat on the green lake. You can also take the helicopter to have panoramic view of Baquan Gorge. At the Baquan Gorge, you can see the majesty of the mountains of the northern China as well as the picturesque scenery of the south of the Yangtze River.

In spring, you can enjoy the lush surroundings at the Baquan Gorge. In summer, you can see the beautiful lake and the wonderful surroundings. In autumn, you can enjoy the autumn foliage at the Baquan Gorge. In winter, you can see the Baquan Gorge covered by the snow.

At the Baquan Gorge, you can experience the vertical roller coaster which is called city of sky. You can reach the height of the 208 meters from the bottom of the mountain. You can experience the trilling elevator at the Baquan Gorge.
 

Hongdou Gorge

At Hongdou Gorge, you can see mountains, waters and cliffs. The whole gorge was formed by the land-building movement hundreds of millions of years ago. With cliffs, high river valleys, waterfalls and numerous fossils, Hongdou Gorge is splendid and beautiful. More than 20,000 natural yew grow in patches in the Hongdou Gorge, which is rare in northern China. At the Shishu Park, you can see many strange stones, uneven trees, which are natural and unique.
 

Qinglong Gorge

At the Qinglong Gorge, you can see the mountains, rivers, valleys and caves. You can experience the rafting at the Qinglong Gorge. You can see the cliffs which is like peeling and chopping by the knife or axe. You can also see the rocks in different shapes, deep caves, waterfalls and deep pools. And rare wildlife can also be seen at the Qinglong Gorge.
 

Heilong Pool

There is the Longwang Temple in the Black Dragon Pool, which used to be a sacred place for villagers to pray for the rain when they suffered from drought. The gorge is long and winding. And the cliffs on the both sides of the gorge are steep, with mountains and peaks, beautiful flowers and strange stones.
 

Zituan Mountain

Zituan Mountain is named after the purple fog around the top of the mountain, with an altitude of more than 1500 meters. Zituan Cave is located at the edge of Zituan Mountain and under Baiyun Temple. It is called "the first cave in the north" because of its peculiar karst landform and large cave capacity. There are different kinds of stalactites, which constitute hundreds of landscapes, which are vivid, magnificent and fascinating.
 

Best Time to Visit  Taihang Mountain Grand Canyon

May to October is the best travel time to Taihang Grand Canyon.

May has beautiful scenery, mild climate; summer has cool wind blow gently, is the place for the summer. Here in the fall is cool, and the weather is generally very well when the best time for travel is. The climate of mountain is cold in winter; we can see snow and glaciers, and silver thaw.

 

How to Get to Taihang Mountain Grand Canyon

Huguan Taihang canyon group located between Shanxi and Henan junction. The people of the east of the Shandong, Henan can go from Henan Anyang Linzhou or Xinxiang Huixian County Baligou scenic area.

After arriving in Changzhi, by coach to Huguan, then charter bus to the scenic spot. Charter price shall generally be 200 Yuan/day (small van for 7 people).
