Qingyan Ancient Town is one of the most famous ancient towns in Guizhou, which is located in the south of Guiyang. It is about 29 kilometers from Guiyang downtown. Built in 1378, Qingyan Ancient Town used to be military fortress. There are architectures of Ming and Qing dynasties with exquisite workmanship. There are also temples, pavilions and ancient streets at the Qingyan Ancient Town.
There are four gates of Qingyan Ancient Town with 4 main streets and 26 lanes. Bei Street is the most characteristic street in Qingyan Ancient Town.
The old town covers 3 square kilometers and follows the style of Ming and Qing dynasty. Some inside structure is also preserved well up to present. It includes nine temples, eight joss houses, five pavilions, three caves, two ancestral halls, one palace and one yard, 30 in total. Such age-old buildings are characterized by majesty vigor and wonderful craftwork, which will make tourists acclaim as the peak of perfection.
Wanshou Palace, also known as Jiangxi Guild Hall, was builtin Qing Dynasty(1778), which has been rebuilt many times. Covering an area of 1,100 square meters, Wanshou Palace consists of main hall, side halls, a theater and living rooms. The stage of the theatre is exquisite with carved stone pillars.
Ciyun Temple was founded in Qing Dynasty and rebuilt in 1832. covering an area of nearly 4,200 square meters, the layout of courtyards is unique, and the architectural framework is well preserved. The carvings of stone pillars are exquisite, and the woodcarving parts are also beautiful. At the Ciyun Temple, you can know about the story of the Three Kingdoms period.
Shoufo Temple was built in Qing Dynasty, which was destroyed at that time. After that, it became guild hall of Hunan and Hubei Provinces. The woodcarving at the Shoufo Temple are exquisite and beautiful. There are two ancient trees at the Shoufo Temple, with a history of several hundred years.
