Zhangye Pingshan Lake Grand Canyon covers an area of 100 square kilometers with an altitude of 1,500 to 2,550 meters. The red rocks at the Zhangye Pingshan Lake Grand Canyon deposited from Mesozoic Jurassic to Cenozoic Tertiary, which has been 180 million to 240 million years ago. The mountains at the Zhangye Pingshan Lake Grand Canyon are low and gentle with red and white as the main colors. The mountains are mostly conical or columnar, with peculiar shapes.
From the bottom of the valley to the top, there are rock formations from Cambrian Period to Cenozoic, with clear levels and different colors, and containing representative biological fossils of various geological ages.
