Dragon Palace Scenic Area

Located in the southwest part of Anshun about 32 kilometers, the Dragon Palace Cave Scenic Area (龙宫景区) is famous for over 90 fabulous caves and uncountable amazing waterfalls inside. When you enter in those various caves, you will feel like that you are going to visit the palace for Dragon King living under the water in Chinese tales and myths. It is also why it is named Dragon Palace. With its grotesque structure, the Dragon Palace Cave Scenic Area presents colorful scenery of underground wind tunnel which can be toured by boat.

 

The underground water way within the Dragon Palace forms two chambers: the outer chamber and the inner chamber. In the inner Chamber, there is a flat place serving as a dock, where visitors can get ashore for a visit. In the outer chamber, there is a platform about 1000 sq meters spacious. Getting off the boat and going up some stone ladders, you soon come to the Tiger's Den, from which some 5400-meter-long stone ladders will take you back to the gate again through the Stone Forest Park. There are many kinds of natural plants in this park, natural stone formations and lush, green trees standing crowded side by side, complementing each other in the sunshine. The last item on the program is to visit the waterfall at Longmen, the mouth of a cave, where waters from Tianchi, rush down the cliff and form a unique sight, 33 meters wide, 37 meters high. People describe it as a white dragon coming out of its cave. Hence the Longmen, meaning the Dragon Gate in Chinese.

Longest Karst Water Cave in China

With rich underground rivers and complicated underground water system, the current length of the water cave of the Dragon Palace is 5,000 meters. And the water cave consists of 5 water caves. Two of them are open now, Yijin and Erjin Dragon Palace. The total length of the Yijin and Erjin Dragon Palace is 1,240 meters. The widest point is over 40 meters, and the narrowest point is only 2 meters. The highest point of the water cave is 110 meters, and the deepest point is 28 meters.
 

Longmen Waterfall: Biggest karst cave waterfall in China

After your journey of the water cave, you will see the Longmen Waterfall. The drop of the waterfall is over 30 meters. The water flows from the Longmen Cave, which is over 50 meters high and 26 meters wide. Viewing the waterfall from the bridge under the waterfall, which is magnificent. In the high-water period, rainbow will formed under the sunlight at the Longmen Waterfall, which makes the Longmen Waterfall more beautiful.
 

Xuantang Pool: Magical Water

Xuantang Pool is a round pool with a diameter of 101 meters. The most magical thing about this pool is that the pool water flows clockwise without the wind power. It is because the water flows in on the tangential direction to the bottom of the pool. And there is natural funnel at the Xuantang Pool, then the water finally flows to the underground rivers. More peculiar thing is the the natural funnel will automatically adjust the water volume and flow rate.
 

Avalokitesvara Cave: the largest Buddhist hall in China

The Avalokitesvara Cave is located in the karst cave, which is rare and unique. And all of the halls at the Avalokitesvara Cave are natural caves, not artificial. There are 32 statues of Buddha at the Avalokitesvara Cave, and the statue of the Avalokitesvara Guanyin is 12.6 meters tall. Avalokitesvara Cave is surrounded by 7 mountains.
 

Tianchi

Tianchi is a deep pool at the top of the Longmen Waterfall. Tianchi is 1,170 meter above sea level, whose deepest point is 16.9 meters and the shallowest point is 4 meters. Tianchi is the entrance of the Dragon Palace. Tianchi is the only way which must be passed to take boat at the Dragon Palace.

Take boat to see the water cave

Dragon Palace is water cave, you need to take boat to admire the wonders at the cave. There are many stalactites in all kind of shapes and postures in the water cave. Take a boat through the underground river in the water cave, you will see the colorful and gorgeous stalactites over your head, and the reflection of the colorful stalactites on calm water is also charming.

Yijin Gragon Palace is the 840 meters, which is the longest section of the Dragon Palace. And Erjin Dragon Palace is 400 meters long and divided into four halls. Crossing the water cave is like crossing a time tunnel. Alongside your way, you will see grotesque stalactites, deep and quiet pools and winding underwater rivers, which are full of fun.
