The Chongqing World Trade Center · Sky Terrace 131 (天台131观景台) sits atop the iconic World Trade Center building in Yuzhong District — from the 56th to the 60th floor — reaching a height of 262 meters, once the tallest building in western China. After a major renovation in July 2024, it reopened as the “Urban Sky Paradise”, a new-generation observation and lifestyle complex that blends panoramic sightseeing, art exhibitions, themed dining, and entertainment.

From here, visitors can enjoy a 360° panoramic view of Chongqing’s unique mountain city landscape, including the Jiefangbei CBD, the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers, and the dazzling skyline that lights up every evening. With the longest external sightseeing elevator in Asia (211.9 meters) and an outdoor LED façade that has become a landmark on its own, Sky Terrace 131 perfectly combines technology, art, and cityscape.

Beyond its incredible views, the site hosts art exhibitions, music parties, fashion events, and immersive urban experiences such as “Edge Descent” rope challenge and the “Cloud Sunset Market.” This new landmark is redefining Chongqing’s high-altitude leisure and tourism economy.

Development and Honors

The Chongqing World Trade Center has a long-standing reputation.

In 1988, it became an official member of the World Trade Centers Association.

In 2003, it completed construction as the first skyscraper over 200 meters in Chongqing.

In 2024, Sky Terrace 131 collaborated with Barbie’s 65th Anniversary Southwest Exhibition, creating an innovative cultural tourism destination that merged global pop culture with local creativity.

The attraction has since received several honors, such as:

“Nightlife Hotspot of Chongqing” from the Chongqing Night Festival (2024)

Official designation as the Photography Base of Yuzhong District

“Best Emerging Attraction” and “Innovative Brand Award” at the 2025 Chongqing Tourism Development Forum

“Innovation Award” from the Jiefangbei Central Business District High-Quality Development Conference

With its creative concepts and trendy urban appeal, Sky Terrace 131 has become a must-visit attraction for both tourists and locals.

Highlights of Sky Terrace 131

1. Sky-High Observation Experience

The observation deck spans from the 56th to 60th floors of the World Trade Center. Visitors take the 211.9-meter-long external glass elevator, the longest of its kind in Asia, and reach the clouds in just 85 seconds.

At the 60th floor, the open-air sky deck offers a transparent viewing platform with a 20-meter-high ceiling, providing breathtaking, unobstructed views of the Yuzhong Peninsula, the Two Rivers’ confluence, and Chongqing’s illuminated skyline. By day, you can see the layered hills and bridges stretching across the city; by night, it transforms into a sea of neon lights reflecting off the riverbanks.

2. Dreamy Photo Spots

Sky Terrace 131 is a paradise for photo lovers, designed with vibrant colors and playful installations that appeal to young travelers.

Indoor highlights (56F–57F):

3. Fusion of Culture, Art, and Lifestyle

Sky Terrace 131 isn’t just an observation deck — it’s an urban cultural hub.
